It’s Okay…Carry the Weight of the World on Your Shoulders!

IMG_20160202_151927In recent months, I have been posting pictures of my work attire on my personal social media accounts… not for validation, recognition, accolades, etc., but for Me.

I enjoy the process of getting dressed in the morning, and preparing myself for work. It is my goal to present myself in the best way possible to the daily world which I encounter.

In my line of work, I am in constant contact with clients (many of whom are millionaires), so professional presentation is key if I plan to be successful. I cannot exude confidence if I feel self-conscious, unsure, and uncomfortable… So I take the time, prepare myself for the day, and to date, it has seemed to work in my favor.

It reminds me of how we prepare ourselves for things in life. If we feel prepared, we will have a much better outlook on whatever tasks come our way…

Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged…

image

Today, I decided to write a blog about how we shouldn’t judge anyone, or anything…because everyone and everything has a place, and a purpose…it’s up to each of us to find what THAT is!

Getting dressed today, I decided to take this Handkerchief with a Quadroline Black & White Window-Pane pattern, pair it with a Dark & Light Blue Mini-Nailshead patterned Cotton Jacket. I then grabbed a pair of Charcoal Thin Wool Pants with a Thin Blue Overlay Window-Pane pattern. Threw in a Dress Shirt with a White, Gray, & Blue Mini Plaid pattern, chose a Dark Gray, Blue, Black & White Combination Slanted Plaid Silk Tie, and Black & White Houndstooth patterned socks. Finished the look off with Black Chelsea Boots. So many different patterns, textures, fabrics!

“So what” you ask? “Why are you sharing all these details?” “ Who cares…” right?

I went into great detail, because it shows that each thing was distinct, had its’ own purpose and style, and they all satisfy different needs…BUT collaboratively make up a great look (at least in my opinion).

Being human, we sometimes feel like our place is lost in the world. At times we get off track with our goals, and we can lose sight of our purpose. BUT, if we seek the Kingdom of God in all things, not only will he begin to give us the desires of our hearts, he will give us the determination, will, drive, and understanding to set, pursue, and achieve our goals, and live in his intended purpose for our lives.

GOD can use you! Yes…YOU! If you don’t feel worthy, you are correct…we will never be worthy! But we can all operate in our individual purpose, so that our collaboration of service makes a great body of work for GOD to use for HIS glory!

So even if you are a $2 handkerchief from Target, a $20 Jacket from Kohl’s, an $8 dress shirt or a $12 tie from Burlington, a $19 pair of pants from TJ Maxx, a pair of $2 socks, or a pair of $30 boots from K&G Men’s Warehouse, once you bring it all together, and receive the blessings of GOD, your worth will exceed your value, and MAGNIFY HIM!!! Be Blessed Everyone!

P.S. The entire outfit cost less than $100. #BlessedOnABudget

A New Beginning…Is there such a thing?

2016-02-15_20.10.50

It’s Monday…Great!

Returning to the rat-race on this first day of the work week can bring feelings of weariness as we begin the 40-50 hour countdown to weekend wonder.  We cherish memorable moments from the weekend, or just the thought of not having a hard and fast schedule for 48 glorious hours (at least that’s my view).

But I think of each Monday as a fresh start. A New Beginning.

Something that I love to do on a weekend is bowl. I view Mondays as yet another opportunity to set up goals like pins at a bowling alley, and roll the ball down the lane to knock them down. Sometimes, it takes one roll, and a strike knocks all the pins down. Other times, it takes a spare to knock all the pins down.  And sometimes, we leave some pins on the lane, despite our best efforts. So does that mean we should not try our best the next time we get to bowl? Or, should we aim for the strike each time?

We must aim for the strike every time…even if we feel like it won’t happen.  That was the inspiration behind my choice of clothing today. I wanted to feel like I was ready to bowl the strike.

So I chose the suit that fits me best, and paired it with my favorite pair of wingtips, and colorful socks to add personality and life to an otherwise mundane look. I felt great, and now I could pour some of the positive energy into my work, and into the environment in which I work.

So, a new beginning… Is there such a thing?

Yes!

Be blessed,

If we feel prepared, we will have a much better outlook on whatever tasks come our way, which leads to greater productivity, higher self esteem, and more confidence. Good personal appearance shows those with whom we interact that we care about ourselves, which (in many cases) can give positive perceptions, which many people correlate to our capabilities.

Some of us simply will not take the time to prepare ourselves for whatever opportunity may come, and then wonder “Why Them?” Or “Why not me?” Now, I am not saying that a suit and tie, or a good pair of shoes changes everything (because we must ensure that we are people of substance), but what I am trying to express is that judgement is a real part of life, and generally, people form their first judgement of us based on our appearance.  I truly believe, if you give your BEST to the world EVERYDAY, eventually it will return the favor.

If you aren’t doing so already, please start taking the time to prepare for the next opportunity in your life. Think about where you want to be, NOT where you are… take the necessary steps in that direction, and with planning, patience, and most importantly, prayer, YOU WILL GET THERE. Be Blessed!
